Bishop David Allen Hall, Sr.

David Allen Hall is an individual of varied interest and experiences and believes the principles of Holiness are essential for changing the world.  His life’s work involves a long tenure with the Church Of God In Christ, Inc. for more than 30 years.  Dr. Hall has served as Publishing Board Representative and Editor of The Whole Truth News.  He served the Church Of God In Christ Publishing House as Chief Executive Officer.  He also serves the historic Temple Church Of God In Christ in Memphis, Tennessee, as pastor(1991).  Temple Church was founded and served by Senior Bishop Charles Harrison Mason.

Dr. Hall is an author, musician, and  thinker and wrote the critically acclaimed Essays to the Next Generation.  His unique set of skills has complimented his participation among some of the nation’s leading theological, political and social personalities.  He is the recipient of many major fellowships and academic awards, such as the “Fund for Theological Education” and the Eli Lilly and Congress of Nation Black Churches “Urban Ministry Fellowship” and others.  Dr. Hall is an Alum of Butler University (Bachelor of Arts), C.H. Mason Theological Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center (Master of Divinity) and  McCormick Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry).

Locally in Memphis, Tennessee, he is active in citywide campaigns against poverty, gangs, violence and drugs. Bishop Hall is chairman the Ecumenical Action Committee a local Memphis group of clergy who are supporting the Black Farmers and Agriculturalists Association, Inc. as the farmers wage the battle for settlement of an historic discrimination lawsuit against the USDA.

On the international scene, Bishop Hall has traveled to Africa, Europe, South America and the Middle East leading medical and peace missions for the Church Of God In Christ.  He participated in the 2008 signing of a UN sponsored Peace and Religious Rights Declaration.  In 2009 Dr. Hall completed an on-site study of the Israeli- Palestinian Conflict and is an advocate for World peace.  Bishop Hall believes and aggressively advocates the Doctrines of Holiness in the pursuit of answers for world issues.

Currently, the Third Generation Preacher is spearheading the writing of the first Uniformed Standardized Ordination Curriculum for the Church Of God In Christ.  Commissioned by the Presiding Bishop Charles E. Blake and the General Board, and in collaboration with the Board of Bishops, that committee is forging ahead with these historic materials. 

Bishop Hall is married to Missionary Mary Portis Hall, MD.  He is the father of two preaching sons, Elder David Allen Hall, Jr. and Elder Thomas E. Hall.  Bishop Hall is a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity and the NAACP.
